Gay Oktoberfest 2026: dates, meeting points and planning
A practical guide to GaySunday, RoslMontag, Subavaria, ProudWiesn, Prosecco-Wiesn and the queer finale.
Munich's Oktoberfest is simultaneously a folk festival, a reunion and a reason to travel for many queer visitors. In 2026 it runs from 19 September to 4 October. There is no single queer day: several established gatherings have different timings, atmospheres and organisers. This guide helps you choose one and plan realistically.
The major confirmed dates
The details come from linked official Oktoberfest, city and organiser sources. Tents may change admission, reservation areas or programmes at short notice, so check the original source again on the day.
- 20 September from 9 am: GaySunday at Bräurosl.
- 21 September from 3 pm: RoslMontag at Bräurosl.
- 23 September from 6:30 pm: Subavaria at Kufflers Weinzelt.
- 27 September from 4:45 pm: ProudWiesn at Armbrustschützen-Festzelt.
- 28 September from 1 pm: Prosecco-Wiesn at Fischer-Vroni.
- 4 October from 1 pm: queer finale at Schottenhamel-Festhalle.
Which gathering suits you?
GaySunday starts early and is the best-known large gathering. RoslMontag, Subavaria, ProudWiesn and Prosecco-Wiesn offer later alternatives. The final Sunday suits visitors who want to mark the close together. A queer gathering does not mean every tent area is exclusively reserved or automatically accessible.
Reservations, admission and budget
A table reservation may help but is not required—or available—for every gathering. Avoid unofficial resale offers. Confirm that an offer comes from the tent or organiser, what it includes and whether minimum spend applies. Budget for food, drinks, cloakroom and the journey home.
Travel and regrouping
Theresienwiese becomes extremely crowded, routes can change and the final part is often on foot. Expect security checks, travel light and arrange the return journey before the first drink.
- Choose a public meeting point outside the densest crowd.
- Save outward and return routes before mobile networks become busy.
- Agree a time and fallback if you cannot find one another inside.
- Never post a hotel room, home address or live location in a public channel.
Confirm access needs
At Oktoberfest says nothing about a step-free route, accessible toilet, seating, companion access or lower-sensory space. Ask the tent about entrance, checks, toilets and the route to your area. Discuss medication, assistance and required breaks in advance.
A sensible day plan
Confirm the time, tent and admission rules in the morning; allow extra travel time; meet publicly; agree the return and a contact person. The day can remain spontaneous without leaving safety and organisation to chance.
